"Bob suddenly realizes the Dell keyboard he bought at a bargain online has a sticky 9 key."
Now if it were a Mandolin Picker's Book, and not a fake book, it would a good deal.
it must include Mike Marshall or someone else coming to your house for a week and playing every tune.....
It's amazing what people have that they think are really one of a kind and valuable. I think the Discovery or NatGeo had a show about appraising objects. A man show up with one of Les Paul's guitars and he thinks that just because it was featured on one of Les Paul's books that it was worth a quarter mil. When they told him that it was only worth the $6K that he paid for it he left threatening to file suit.

Hey, I have one of those and will have two kids going to college.... hmmmmm...

Can you imagine how much this would be priced at if it were a Real Book? Add another 9, I reckon.
But hey - the shipping's free!

A friend of mine purchased some tramp art boxes. Then he commissioned a picture book of tramp art which included pictures of his boxes in the book. Then he sold his boxes for 20 times what he bought them for, because they were in the book don't you know.
I used to have that one, but not the gold leaf edition for sale here.

Sorry to jump in on your thread here. But here's another ripper.http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/VINTAGE-A...:B:WNA:AU:1120
Too high a price for the Mando for starters at the B I N. Not a great call for 12 strings. But that postage cost as is showing up here in Oz at $1090.10. You certainly wouldn't be using U P S at those rates. Maybe it's hand delivered. Interestingly they give 3 rates, all similar in cost with the cheapest being the quickest.

Hah, if nothing else I contacted David Brody, who I used to know way back in the day in New York and he was rather amused by this sale.

Well, if it's a signed first edition, and you take it to Las Vegas, maybe Chumlee will give you five grand for it.

I'm sure it was a typo, and I contacted the seller about that. We'll see what he says.
I admire your faith in human nature. If you look view all this seller's listings, sorted high-to-low, you'll find thousand upon thousand of books, all listed at the same eye-watering price. They're just hoping that sooner or later they'll hit the jackpot I'm afraid.
Very strange.... what are they trying to do?

They're a business seller. Providing they turn over a certain volume of business they get their eBay listings free. So they list books they don't have hoping a mug turns up. Buy any of these from them at the BIN and they'll order you a copy off Amazon, most likely. They list and sell just enough books at regular prices to maintain their entitlement to free listings.
They're by no means the only sellers operating this sort of scheme. Amazon Marketplace has its share too.
i'll sign my copy and sell it to anyone cheap. only five thousand dollars!
