Anyone seen it? Is it worth seeking out to watch? I like films for the sake of film, but wondering if I should be playing/practicing instead. May not be easing finding a Belgian movie about Bluegrass in the middle of the USA.

Well,..... the poster on Wikipedia certainly makes it look like a worthwhile thing to watch.

I figure I'll end up watching it sometime. Doubt it will be coming to a theater near me any time soon!
Well, you could at least get the soundtrack.
It's on Amazon, and iTunes.
I think I have even seen where some unscrupulous person has posted the soundtrack on Youtube! Argh, the nerve of some people...
Looks great, except for that dude's hair, man.
Long hair, no problem, but he needs a comb; especially for the wedding--- LOL!!
The music sounds great. It's so cool that Bluegrass has gone global! I'll definitely watch this movie and look elsewhere but his hair. (That rhymes and there's a song in there somewhere)

First (and last?) movie with main character talkin' about Tony Rice and Manzanita!

Here, they "translated" the original title, The Broken Circle Breakdown. It became Alabama Monroe!!!
In some places in France, you can watch the movie and then have a bluegrass concert...
Have you seen the movie?
Twice. Overwhelming!

Well, I don't think it's very realistic. It's about a banjo player with a girlfriend.

The film is playing here in Toronto. It's quite good, although not what you might expect. The characters are sort of punk-back to the earth hippies. And the story takes a very grim turn, when it turns out to be (I don't think I'm giving too much away here) a child who becomes ill. Anyone with personal experience with this subject would find it quite difficult to watch. The music is good, especially the singing and the banjo and dobro playing. Very little lead mandolin.

I just rented the film on itunes. It was nominated for an Oscar, and deserved it. Definitely worth the rental. It's a romantic tragedy, so have hankies ready. The music carries the heart of the movie and is very powerful. Yes it features a Belgian bluegrass band- it shows the power this music has to speak to the heart. Two thumbs up!
I thought it was a great movie. I think I'm gonna watch it again somewhere this year to see if I can pick out any other hidden things that I didn't see the first time watching it. I found the leaps in time a little bit off-putting but I didn't get right away why they did it the way it is.
The music is excellent, indeed.
