    Default Summer NAMM shots

Some cellphone shots of mandolin activity at the Summer NAMM 2013 show. New digs in the Music City Convention Center.

Breakfast session entertainment with Sierra Hull.

Note in the above pic, she's not that small--she's wielding a Weber Octave.

Hooked up with Bruce & Mary Weber at the Two Old Hippies booth. Huge Weber mandolin selection--big expansion into octaves, and of course the new Sopranolin. Bruce says they will be branching out into more Sopranolin body choices soon.

Pleasant surprise hooking up with Texas building legend Tom Ellis. Looking forward to going back today and playing his Pava mandolins.

Just to crank up my envy factor...do attendees get to pick up and play the instruments on display? Or, is it look but don't touch?

Can't imagine walking through this candy shop and not tasting a thing!

You can play anything. The problem is hearing what you're playing. There is such a HUGE background noise of electric guitar, drums, horns, etc. that trying to hear what an acoustic stringed instrument sounds like is usually a lost cause.

I think they should have at least a ten minute moratorium ever hour at these events for all of the acoustic manufacturers.
