Default Best smartphone tuner app for mandolin?

Like most of us, I use a clip on tuner (the Planet Waves NS mini) on my instruments, and it works great in all environments. But at times, I still need to tune an instrument where I don't have a clip-on tuner and need to use my iPhone. Any experiences using an app, especially in noisy environments, that works well?

Guitar toolkit has a nice accurate tuner as well as a metronome and a chord finder that can be set for mandolin. Handy to have in your pocket.
Hereby & forthwith, any instrument with an odd number of strings shall be considered broken. With regard to mix levels, usually the best approach is treating the mandolin the same as a cowbell.

Petersons stobosoft is wonderful. I've used it side by side with a strobo clip and the flip and they are nearly identical. The ap is also a fraction of the price. It's a pro level tuner. Only difference being that the hardware devices have some extra calibration and preset features. Get this one.

I use a Peterson stroboclip on tuner, my cousin really didn't want to buy another tuner and he liked my stroboclip so he got one/found one for his phone. It works great.I really don't know what or how he found it, I'm cell phone dumb, I still don't even have one!

I'm a sucker for these apps... I use the Guitar Toolkit one, as well as Strobosoft. But I like the look of that Cleartune app.

For those using Cleartune, what do you set the temperament and temperament key at? Leave as default (equal), or one of the string-family presets?

I've just downloaded Strobe Tuner v1.4 for Android.
    It seems great so far.

    Pitchlab is my favourite

It's superb and very flexible - gives many screen read outs. I tried various tuners, none of which dealt well with rich overtones. Gstrings was terrible - Pitchlab is very responsive and deals well with flute, harp, mandolin for me. I love the A=415Hz and the standard A=440Hz and move easily between these for wind instruments. Mandolin I've found much simpler to tune with Pitchlab than my Seiko tuner (hardware).

I didn't realize you could change that, but I see now that you can. I just leave it at "Equal Temperament."

Two more votes for Cleartune and Peterson iStroboSoft. The Peterson has a noise filter that helps in noisy jam situations. Otherwise the Cleartune is my favorite by far. I use the violin family temperament, and no one has complained. I did notice there is no B**jo family temperament among the many options.

Agreed Pitchlab is pretty awesome (and FREE)! My favorite, bar none.

It has a lot of different functions that are easy to use and the assortment of different visuals is pretty cool too.

Going back to part of the Original Post..
Any experiences using an app, especially in noisy environments, that works well?
Wouldn't you have to retreat to the bathroom to use those?
since all you have is the Microphone in the Phone, to hear the pitch.

and in a room full of other players the isolating your sound
from theirs is another problem to solve .

I have a clip piezo clamp and plug, for tuners , but it's 1/4" phone plug.

Suppose a person could cut it off and re-solder a smaller one on ..

OP asked for tuner apps for use in noisy environments. How do you use cleartune in a noisy environment? In my experience it does not work well in noise, although it's outstanding in a quiet room.

Peterson Strobe +1 I use it for setting intonation as well.

Cleartune is nice...more accurate then many clip ons

I find that the needle damping set to "ll" works best; otherwise a bit too sensitive.

I use equal temperament; curious as to what the violin temperament actually does
