I think I will get a job at Goodwill and when something like this comes in as a donation I can have first crack at it, Better wait until a while to make a bid to see how much this beauty is going for...

The headstock is split in half and the crack measures 6 ½” long. Several cracks are noted on the fretboard and front, back and bottom of the body. Severe scuffs, scratches and minute chips are noted throughout. The bridge is missing.
Yikes. If it really needs as much work as it looks like in the photos, it's already over-priced. There's no way this thing can be restored without spending more than it would be worth in prime condition... is there?

At the present 292 I bet you could part out the Handel tuners original tailpiece and the carcass then come out way ahead. Of course there are afew days to go and I predict someone will end up paying way too much. Probably someone who knows absolutely nothing about mandolins except they remember they heard somewhere that its valuable if it says Gibson on it.

Quote from a 2005 Cafe post:

Anyway, for what its worth, I paid $550 in May 2005 for a nice set of Handel tuners just to put aside for a rainy day.

So here's a set -- with restorable mandolin attached -- for $250 less, at least until the bidding jumps up.

Hope no one "parts it out." That mandolin can be restored to playing condition.

I'm with you bjewell, hope someone picks it up and restores it, wish I could. Yeah, it's rough and will need quite a bit of TLC but, gee.
